1979 Chevrolet Corvette, Original, Unrestored, Survivor Condition 68,382 Original Miles No Hit Body w/ 100% Original Paint Great Driver, in unmolested condition ph# 419-733-5114
History - This car was sold new at Stan Pepple Motors in Bryan, OH. The previous owner had it 20+ years. I have owned it for about a year, and believe I am the third owner. I purchased the car in appreciation of its originality.
Mechanics - Numbers matching L-48 - 350 engine w/ automatic transmission. The engine is strong, and the transmission shifts smoothly. This car is very reliable, and always starts. Frame, and exhaust are good. The car stops fine, and the brakes feel good. The car sits on a nice set of BF Goodrich radial T/A's. The Headlight doors, all lights, power windows, and windshield wipers work. The car has AC, but does not work. All guages work except oil pressure. Expect typical leaks from seals and gaskets. Brand new battery just two weeks ago.
Paint - Body & Interior - This car still wears 100% of its code 83 Corvette Dark Blue paint. The "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" sticker is still by the gas door. The paint has light checking throughout, but still has good shine. Typical scuffs, scratches, chips, to be expected on this 30 year old survivor. The nose is nice and not all split up like most you see. The door edges (mostly drivers) are a little tacky from previously removed door edge guards. I recently re-pinstriped the car after removing the old brittle one. I had hoped to just remove the old, but color fade demanded a new one. No hit body is in nice original condition. The seams show in the usual places, and there are a few hairline cracks. The original Oyster leather interior is in nice original driver condition. Split in drivers seat to be noted, but a nice preserved example. Clean throughout with nice dash, door panels, carpet, and mats. After market radio, door sill plates, lock knobs to be noted. All exterior black trim shows chipping and fade. Easy items to refresh, but I chose to preserve the originality. I refuse to run wild with a spray can, and a tube of touch up paint. Do what ever you choose when it's yours, but I've preserved this cars originality. Enjoy this time capsule as is, or a little cosmetic work would go along way.
